The AMX NMX-ENC-N2312-C is a powerful encoder from the N2300 Series, designed for 4K UHD video over IP distribution with KVM support and PoE functionality. This encoder offers exceptional video quality with minimal latency, making it ideal for environments that demand high-definition, cinema-grade video distribution, such as corporate AV, digital signage, or command and control centers. By utilizing JPEG 2000 compression, the NMX-ENC-N2312-C allows for seamless and highly efficient 4K UHD video distribution over existing gigabit Ethernet networks, significantly reducing bandwidth usage without sacrificing video fidelity.
The NMX-ENC-N2312-C encoder enables video inputs from HDMI 2.0, DVI-D, and DisplayPort sources, as well as analog video through VGA and component connectors, with the capability of scaling input resolutions from common HD up to 4K at 30Hz (4:2:0). This broad input compatibility ensures flexibility in deployment, supporting various source devices without the need for additional adapters. The encoder then transmits the video over Ethernet to compatible decoders (like the NMX-DEC-N2322 or NMX-DEC-N2212) for decoding and display on any monitor, with the output stream also capable of being routed to one or multiple displays based on the system configuration.
One of the key features of the NMX-ENC-N2312-C is its ability to support Power over Ethernet (PoE), which simplifies installation by eliminating the need for separate power cables. This also makes the encoder suitable for high-density installations where reducing cabling is crucial. If PoE is not used, the encoder can still be powered locally using a 12V DC power supply. The encoder includes integrated KVM functionality, allowing users to control connected PCs or workstations via the network, making it suitable for applications requiring remote desktop control or monitoring.
With support for HDCP 2.2, the NMX-ENC-N2312-C ensures compatibility with high-definition content protection standards, making it suitable for environments that require secure video distribution. This encoder supports embedded 7.1-channel audio over HDMI, as well as analog stereo audio input and output, with user-selectable balanced and unbalanced audio formats. Additionally, it provides flexible control options, including IR, RS232 serial communication, and the ability to trigger events via onboard control, allowing for seamless integration into broader AV control systems.
The NMX-ENC-N2312-C encoder also features multiple connection options, including both RJ45 and SFP network ports for flexibility in network setup. The SFP port supports fiber optic connections, ideal for long-distance transmission, while the RJ45 ports provide a cost-effective solution for standard Ethernet networks. This enables flexible network setups, ranging from standard Gigabit Ethernet networks to more complex fiber-based infrastructures, making it a highly scalable solution for AV over IP systems.
For users looking to scale the system, the NMX-ENC-N2312-C supports both stand-alone installations and integration into a high-density system using the NMX-ACC-N9206 card cage, allowing for seamless growth from small setups to larger AV networks. The encoder also features a pass-through HDMI function, allowing easy installation with local displays like desktop PCs or smaller monitors, which can be useful in many video wall or multi-screen applications.
