The BSS Audio BLU-HIF is a versatile 1-Input/1-Output Telephone Headset Interface designed to seamlessly integrate VoIP or digital phones into a Soundweb London system, providing a simple and effective solution for conference system applications. This interface enables the connection of a VoIP/digital phone's headset jack to an Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC) input and an analog output of a Soundweb London device, effectively transforming the phone into a dialing interface and hybrid system for conferencing purposes. This solution eliminates the complexity of programming third-party control systems, while offering a familiar, cost-effective dialing method for end users.

The BLU-HIF is equipped with an RJ-22 jack for connecting to the headset port of a VoIP/digital phone, a balanced input (Tx) for transmitting near-side audio, and a balanced output (Rx) for receiving far-side audio. Although the BLU-HIF provides significant isolation between the Rx and Tx signals, some near-side audio (side-tone) may still be present on the Rx channel. To counteract this, it is recommended that the Rx channel is fed to an AEC input, where the AEC algorithm can effectively remove the side-tone, ensuring clear communication. The Tx channel connects directly to a standard analog output.

Recognizing that headset jack wiring configurations can vary between different phone manufacturers, the BLU-HIF includes two cables, each with a 4P4C RJ-22 connector compatible with the most common wiring configurations found in VoIP/digital phone headsets. This ensures quick and easy compatibility with a wide range of phone models.

In addition to the RJ-22 jack, the BLU-HIF features a 2.5mm TRS jack that allows connection to two-way communication devices, such as cellular phones. This functionality provides users with an alternative communication path, particularly valuable as a backup to the main phone system, ensuring reliable communication at all times.

The BLU-HIF is housed in a rugged metal chassis, designed for durability in professional environments. Its compact design allows for easy surface or under-table mounting, making it a practical and unobtrusive addition to any conferencing setup.
