The DAS Audio Aero 20A is a cutting-edge powered 2-way line array loudspeaker designed to deliver exceptional audio performance in a compact form factor, making it suitable for various applications, including concerts, festivals, and corporate events. Building on the success of the AERO-12A, which was introduced in 2009, the Aero 20A incorporates DAS's latest advancements in transducer design, power electronics, and system management. This innovative approach ensures that the Aero 20A provides outstanding sound quality, versatility, and reliability, making it an indispensable tool for sound professionals.
At the heart of the Aero 20A is a powerful low-mid range loudspeaker, the DAS 12AN4, optimized to deliver high output and exceptional reliability. The speaker features a lightweight aluminum voice coil bonded to a new fiberglass reinforced cone, which significantly contributes to its performance. An optimized magnet circuit and a new suspension design minimize distortion while enhancing power handling and maximizing sound pressure levels (SPL). With a frequency range of 60 Hz to 20 kHz, the Aero 20A ensures a full-bodied audio experience, providing clarity and depth across a wide spectrum of frequencies.
The high-frequency response of the Aero 20A relies on an advanced compression driver-waveguide assembly, featuring the M-75N compression driver. This driver incorporates a powerful neodymium magnet structure, a titanium diaphragm, and a 75 mm (3") voice coil. A redesigned mounting system, which tightens internal tolerances, coupled with a new shorting ring design, significantly increases the power handling capacity of the driver. The M-75N is mounted on a newly designed aluminum waveguide, engineered to be free of resonances, providing a natural and transparent sound reproduction that is critical for high-fidelity applications.
The construction of the Aero 20A utilizes high-quality birch plywood, finished with durable ISO-flex coating that offers excellent protection and durability against the demands of touring and professional use. Two injected aluminum assemblies at the front of the cabinet house the high-frequency waveguide and the 12" woofer, aiding in the dissipation of heat from components and controlling power compression. An injected aluminum heat sink housing the amplifier and related electronics is mounted at the rear of the cabinet, ensuring efficient thermal management during operation.
For enhanced usability, the Aero 20A features a new captive rigging mechanism that simplifies the process of selecting angles while the units are stacked on the transport dolly. A locking system secures angles between adjacent enclosures during stacking and lifting, facilitating quick setup and teardown at events. This innovative design allows for customizable coverage options to suit different venue requirements and ensures optimal sound projection.
