The JBL Professional AWC62 is a compact, high-performance, coaxial-driver, 2-way loudspeaker that offers exceptional weather resistance and broad coverage, making it ideal for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications. Designed for high-quality speech and music reproduction, the AWC62 excels in settings such as sports facilities, racetracks, stadiums, fairgrounds, water parks, skating rinks, themed entertainment venues, and many more. This versatile loudspeaker system provides both high output and extended frequency response, ensuring clarity and power in demanding environments.
At the heart of the AWC62 is a 165 mm (6.5 in) low-frequency driver with a Kevlar-reinforced cone, offering outstanding reliability and performance in challenging conditions. The driver features a 38 mm (1.5 in) voice coil, which, together with the weather-treated cone, provides smooth frequency response and high sensitivity. The system also includes a 25 mm (1 in) high-frequency compression driver that integrates seamlessly with the low-frequency driver in a coaxial design. This unique design eliminates high-frequency beaming, ensuring consistent 110° coverage across a broad frequency range while extending pattern control down to lower frequencies.
With an impressive IP56 rating, the AWC62 is built to endure harsh environmental conditions, making it an excellent choice for both indoor and outdoor installations. It is engineered to resist dust and water ingress, ensuring reliable operation even in extreme weather conditions. The enclosure, crafted from a robust blend of ABS and fiberglass, is reinforced for maximum low-frequency performance. The corrosion-resistant zinc-rich powder-coated steel grille, backed with open-cell foam and high-thread-count mesh, offers added protection against the elements while maintaining the system's aesthetic appeal. The AWC62 is designed for installation at a minimum 5° downward tilt, which helps maintain its IP56 rating when properly installed.
The AWC62 provides a broad frequency response, covering from 100 Hz to 16 kHz (±3 dB) and delivering a smooth and natural midrange. The high-slope crossover network ensures constant coverage, allowing the speaker to produce clear and accurate sound reproduction across the entire frequency range. With a power handling capacity of 175W (average continuous pink noise), the AWC62 is capable of delivering high SPL output with minimal distortion. The system features a maximum SPL of 120 dB at full power and a sensitivity of 96 dB (2.83V @ 1m), ensuring the speaker performs effectively in both large venues and more intimate spaces.
For added flexibility in various installation scenarios, the AWC62 is equipped with a 120W 70V/100V multi-tap transformer, enabling easy integration into distributed audio systems. The transformer offers multiple tap settings, including 120W, 60W, 30W, and 15W for 70V applications and 120W, 60W, and 30W for 100V systems, making the AWC62 adaptable to different system configurations. The speaker can also be used with direct 8Ω low-impedance connections, providing further versatility for system designers.
Installation is made simple with the included heavy-duty zinc-rich powder-coated U-type mounting bracket, designed for secure and stable mounting. The speaker features two M10 fine-thread attachment points for the bracket, along with a secondary M6 safety attachment point on the back panel for additional security. The AWC62 also comes with outdoor-rated barrier strip terminals that accept up to 12 AWG wire or spade lugs, ensuring a secure and waterproof connection. The recessed terminal cup includes a protective compartment cover and a gland nut that forms a water-tight seal when used with round-jacketed cables.
