The JBL Professional Control 30 is a high-performance, 250W 10-inch passive 3-way loudspeaker designed for both foreground and background music systems, delivering exceptional sound quality and coverage. Its advanced components and innovative design make it suitable for a wide variety of commercial and industrial applications, including retail spaces, theme parks, educational institutions, sports venues, restaurants, and more. Available in a black finish (or white, in the -WH model), the Control 30 seamlessly blends powerful audio performance with versatile installation options, making it a reliable and durable choice for demanding audio environments.
The Control 30 utilizes a highly efficient, computer-optimized coaxial design, which integrates a 10-inch fiberglass/Kevlar cone low-frequency (LF) driver, a 6-inch anodized aluminum midrange (MR) driver, and a 1-inch compression driver with a pure titanium diaphragm. This three-way configuration ensures smooth and consistent frequency response, extending from 38 Hz to 17 kHz. The speaker features a rotatable high-frequency horn that provides a nominal coverage angle of 120° horizontal by 110° vertical, ensuring uniform sound distribution and minimal distortion across a wide listening area. The horn's symmetrical design allows for both vertical and horizontal mounting orientations, offering flexibility in installation.
With its powerful transducers, the Control 30 delivers a maximum SPL of 123 dB short-term and 117 dB long-term, making it ideal for large, acoustically demanding spaces. It also features a high sensitivity of 93 dB at 2.83V/1m, enabling the speaker to deliver clear, articulate sound even at lower power levels. The speaker's low distortion and flat frequency response ensure high-fidelity sound reproduction, maintaining excellent sound character throughout the frequency range.
The Control 30's weather-resistant design is built to withstand the elements. The woofer's Kevlar cone, combined with a pure butyl rubber surround and rear-loaded driver basket, minimizes exposure to harsh environmental conditions. The midrange driver's anodized aluminum cone with EPDM rubber surround and the compression driver's pure titanium diaphragm further contribute to the speaker's ruggedness. The speaker's grille is thermoset composite coated for durability and is backed with WeatherMax multi-layer foam to prevent water incursion, ensuring reliable performance in outdoor environments.
Installation is made easy with the included InvisiBall mounting system, which provides secure attachment and allows for horizontal rotation of up to 41° off-axis and vertical rotation up to 36° (horn inward) or 23° (woofer inward). This system ensures precise aiming and alignment, offering flexibility for a variety of installations. The Control 30 also includes 10 attachment points for suspension and an optional U-bracket, ideal for low-profile under-balcony installations. For additional protection, the speaker comes with an MTC-PC2 sealed-entrance cover that safeguards the terminal connections.
Designed for use in both 70V and 100V distributed audio systems, the Control 30 features a high-quality line distribution transformer with minimal insertion loss and reduced saturation. This transformer offers multiple taps (110W, 55W, 28W for 70V; 110W, 55W, 28W for 100V) and can be bypassed for 8Ω impedance operation. The built-in SonicGuard overload protection ensures the speaker's longevity by providing full-range power limiting, preventing damage to the network and transducers while maintaining optimal audio performance.
The Control 30 is ideal for both indoor and outdoor installations where durability, high-output, and consistent coverage are required. It provides high-fidelity sound reproduction, excellent power handling, and versatile mounting options, making it a superior choice for a wide range of commercial and industrial audio applications.
