The JBL Professional VRX928LA is a lightweight, compact, and high-performance 8-inch two-way line array speaker designed for use in smaller venue applications that require the precision and high-output performance of a line array system, but without the extreme throw distance capabilities of larger arrays like JBL's VERTEC or VRX932LA. Weighing just 28 lbs (13 kg), the VRX928LA is perfect for venues where portability, ease of deployment, and coverage are paramount. With a nominal coverage pattern of 100° horizontal and 15° vertical, this speaker offers excellent sound distribution, ensuring that both near and far audience members receive clear, consistent sound.
The VRX928LA incorporates JBL's cutting-edge neodymium magnet Differential Drive technology in its 8-inch woofer, which provides high power handling and lightweight performance, making the speaker easy to handle and transport. The dual neodymium high-frequency compression drivers, mounted on a constant curvature waveguide, deliver smooth, coherent high-frequency reproduction, making the VRX928LA ideal for both speech and music applications. The constant curvature waveguide design ensures that the drivers work together as a cohesive unit, improving the coherence of sound as more units are added to the array.
With its flexibility and array configuration features, the VRX928LA is capable of being part of larger flown arrays of up to six units, offering vertical coverage of up to 90°. The system's built-in "array shading" feature, controlled via an easy-to-use switch on the input plate, allows for precise control over the coverage of the array. This feature allows for different sections of the array to have different sound levels, making it easy to direct sound to distant areas while preventing excess volume at the front of the venue. Additionally, the speaker includes an array selector, enabling passive and bi-amp modes for flexibility in system configuration, making it suitable for various types of installations.
For ground stacked applications, the VRX928LA can be mounted on a 35mm pole or tripod stand using the included dual-angle pole socket. When used in combination with the optional VRX-SMAF line array frame, it offers simple suspension, allowing the speaker to be securely rigged and angled to achieve optimal sound coverage. The speaker is built for durability, with a rugged black DuraFlex finish and a CNC-machined, 16-gauge steel grille backed by acoustically transparent foam to provide additional protection to the internal transducers.
