The JBL Professional VRX932LA-1WH is a compact, high-performance 12-inch passive 2-way line array loudspeaker designed for versatile use in mid-sized venues where traditional large-scale line arrays may be overkill. Weighing just 46 lbs (21 kg), the VRX932LA-1WH is engineered to deliver exceptional sound quality and high output in a lightweight, easy-to-install package. Its white DuraFlex finish makes it especially suitable for venues like houses of worship, auditoriums, and theaters where aesthetic considerations require a more discreet speaker system. The VRX932LA-1WH is the perfect choice for situations where line-array performance is needed, but the venue does not demand the long-throw capabilities of larger systems like JBL's VERTEC.
The speaker features JBL's patented Differential Drive technology, with a 12-inch neodymium magnet woofer for outstanding low-frequency performance. The system incorporates three JBL 2408J Annular Ring Diaphragm HF compression drivers, designed to deliver crisp and clear high frequencies. These drivers are mounted on a Constant Curvature waveguide that ensures seamless integration between the speakers in an array. As more VRX932LA-1WH speakers are added, the waveguide continues, enhancing the array's coherence as if all drivers were part of a single, continuous driver. This innovation results in significantly improved sound quality across the coverage area.
The VRX932LA-1WH features "amplitude shading" technology, which allows the user to adjust the output levels at different points in the array, directing sound to the farthest sections of a venue while reducing the intensity at the front. This flexibility is enabled through an external array configuration selector, which can switch between passive or bi-amp modes. In passive mode, the system can handle up to 800W continuous power, 1600W program, and 3200W peak, with a maximum SPL of 130 dB. In bi-amp mode, the low-frequency driver handles 800W continuous power, while the high-frequency driver can manage 75W continuous. The system's sensitivity in passive mode is 95 dB SPL (1W at 1m), with a peak SPL of 139 dB at the high-frequency output.
The system's design allows for easy suspension of up to six VRX932LA-1WH units in a single array, achieving a nominal vertical coverage of up to 90°. The speaker is also equipped with dual 36 mm pole sockets for flexible mounting on tripod stands or poles, and an optional VRX-AF array frame kit enables secure rigging for large-scale installations. For applications requiring precise aiming, the second array frame can be installed to pull the array down to the desired angle.
The speaker's enclosure is built from 18 mm, 11-ply birch plywood, offering strength and durability while maintaining light weight. The powder-coated, black, 16-gauge steel grille provides additional protection for the transducers, while an acoustically transparent foam backing ensures minimal distortion. The input connectors are Neutrik Speakon NL-4, offering reliable and secure connections for various audio setups.
