The Klark Teknik DN32-DANTE expansion module is a high-performance audio networking solution designed for seamless integration with Midas M32 and Behringer X32 digital mixing consoles. This Dante-enabled module provides up to 32 channels of bidirectional networked audio, enabling easy and reliable integration into Dante-enabled IP networks. Dante technology, based on modern IT standards, is widely used for its ability to deliver uncompressed, multichannel digital audio over standard IP infrastructure with low latency and precise synchronization. The DN32-DANTE enhances the M32 and X32 consoles by allowing them to be part of sophisticated audio systems, enabling multichannel audio routing and control within a Dante network.
The DN32-DANTE features two Gigabit Ethernet ports that are connected through an internal switch, providing dual-redundant networking capabilities. This design ensures continuous operation in case of a failure, with the secondary Ethernet port automatically taking over if the primary port becomes unavailable. Both ports handle not only audio but also Ethernet remote control data, allowing for unified connectivity over a single network cable. The module supports up to 32 input and 32 output channels at a sample rate of 48 kHz, making it suitable for a wide range of live sound and recording applications. It also supports 44.1 kHz sample rates, offering flexibility depending on the system requirements.
The DN32-DANTE operates with Dante's Precision Time Protocol (PTP), which guarantees that all devices in the Dante network are perfectly synchronized. The onboard high-precision word clock can serve as the clock master for the entire Dante network or alternatively, the M32 or X32 console can provide the master clock, distributing it throughout the Dante system. This setup ensures sample-accurate synchronization between the consoles and other Dante-enabled devices, providing optimal performance for live sound, recording, and broadcast applications.
For remote configuration and monitoring, the DN32-DANTE is compatible with the free Dante Controller software, which is available for both PC and Mac. This software allows users to easily configure audio routing, control device parameters, and monitor network activity. The Dante Virtual Soundcard application, available for both PC and Mac, enables direct streaming of up to 32 channels of uncompressed audio to and from any Dante-enabled device over the network, providing a powerful solution for remote recording, live playback, or any other scenario that requires high-quality audio transport over IP.
With dual Ethernet interfaces and extensive support for Dante's robust network features, the DN32-DANTE ensures that Midas M32 and Behringer X32 users can easily expand their audio systems, connect to other Dante-enabled devices, and streamline their workflows. Whether used in a live concert setup, studio recording, or broadcast environment, the DN32-DANTE provides seamless, high-performance connectivity and maximum flexibility in professional audio systems.
