The Klark Teknik DN9652 is a dual-network bridge format converter designed to interface two independently clocked digital audio networks, facilitating seamless communication between AES50 networks and third-party digital audio systems, such as MADI and Dante. With up to 64 bidirectional channels of audio and support for asynchronous sample rate conversion (ASRC), the DN9652 is engineered to operate at both 48 kHz and 96 kHz sample rates independently in each network domain. This feature ensures high-quality audio routing between networks with different sample rates, making it ideal for complex setups in live sound, recording, and broadcast environments.
At the heart of the DN9652 is the bidirectional asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC), which enables the two networks to function independently without the need for a common clock. However, in instances where synchronization between the networks is required, the ASRC can be bypassed, allowing one network domain to clock the other directly. Additionally, the DN9652 features a bidirectional output audio clock inhibit function, which halts the output clock if the incoming clock synchronization fails, an essential feature for dual-redundant systems where clock failures must be propagated across both networks to initiate a failover to a redundant network.
The DN9652 is compatible with Klark Teknik's KT-MADI, KT-DANTE64, KT-AES50, and KT-USB network modules, offering extensive flexibility in supporting various audio protocols. It ensures smooth operation between AES50 networks and MADI or Dante connections, while being future-proofed with an industry-standard expansion slot for additional protocol support via the Cirrus CM-1 format. The device features a precision "AES Grade 1" temperature-compensated word clock oscillator, offering 1 ppm stability, which serves as the reference clock for digital audio systems and delivers an accurate and stable sound image free from jitter and digital clocking errors.
For synchronization, the DN9652 can derive its clock from the AES50 clock domain, the external network clock, or the word clock input, with additional support for black burst video sync input in both standard and high-definition formats. This makes the DN9652 a versatile tool in complex audio setups that require precise synchronization with video systems. Additionally, the unit features an onboard web server, enabling configuration through a browser-based interface over the Ethernet control port, which simplifies network management without the need for multiple control applications or support for different operating systems. Users can configure sample rates, clock synchronization options, ASRC bypass settings, and more through the intuitive web interface.
The DN9652 is built for durability, with a rugged 1U rackmount chassis designed to withstand the demanding conditions of live concert touring. The unit features premium Neutrik BNC connectors for reliable clock and network connections, and the front panel includes status LEDs and an alphanumeric LCD display for easy monitoring of network synchronization, control port activity, and configuration settings. The device is powered by an auto-ranging universal switch-mode power supply, making it compatible with global power systems, ensuring reliability in any location. With its robust design, high channel capacity, and comprehensive feature set, the DN9652 provides a reliable solution for complex digital audio networks requiring seamless integration and synchronization between different systems.
