The high-frequency driver pairs with a 6.5-inch Symmetrical Field Geometry (SFG) low-frequency transducer. This transducer features a 2-inch edge-wound voice coil and a copper-clad pole piece, which improves performance by reducing voice coil inductance and distortion. The result is a loudspeaker that delivers precise and clear sound, with minimized distortion, even at high output levels.

The AC16 is designed with a rugged multi-ply hardwood enclosure that is both durable and acoustically efficient. The enclosure is engineered to work effectively in both vertical and horizontal orientations, providing flexibility in installation. The cabinet is coated with JBL's textured DuraFlex finish, offering enhanced durability and a professional, sleek appearance.
